today was the final presentation for architecture studio 2b…i had been nervous for days! God…and when the time came, it wasn’t really well done,,,i knew it, bcos i didn’t really put my best effort in it, so yeahh i didn’t really expect a good result,,,but the importatnt thing is: IT’S DONE! yeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaay 

unlike in my home uni, here the students were very casual in presentation…short, t-shirt, sandal…in UI, it’s a big NO WAY

clairvoyance

i don’t know why i suddenly have an idea to talk about clairvoyance…well if you search on google, you can find the explanation in wikipedia or online dictionaries…shortly, it means “clear visibility” and the person who has this ability called clairvoyance, means “the one who sees clear.” it said that clairvoyance is one of the kinds of sixth sense, it means you are able to see what most people do not.when i say able, it doesn’t mean that this kind of thing is gained through education or a training or sort of that,,sometimes, it just comes out of nowhere. but actually not really come-out-of-nowhere because mostly it’s a kind of thing that you inherit from your predecessors that like it or not you’re gonna get it………………but i think it is different from premonition and precognition, well you can search for these two terms’ meaning in google……….and i think clairvoyance is not really “sixth sense” like really “sixth sense”, i think it is just something that you have more sensitive sight or vision than other people, you are visual people,,,that sometimes your vision become something like a foreseen

move

we gotta move our architecture design studio assignment 2 from the exhibition space in the office to the hall in studio…for this assignment, we didnt have to present it verbally, they’re gonna assess only the graphic presentation and 3D model

accident

cutting your own fingers is a very common accident that happens during making 3D model…another common accident is you stupidly drop your own nearly-finished 3D model that results it has to remake, or other in-so-tired-condition-people unfortunately come across and drop your finally-finish-3D model that results a very very depressive situation because so much emotion to be blown up: anger, sadness, tiring, mocking…another accident is when you finally display your 3D model, admiring your own hard work for the last depressing coupleof days but then you realize that there so many errors with the scale factor and directions and other things…please Dear God, do not ever let these terrible misfortunates happen to me…(though i cut my own finger already)

habitable

the studio here is more habitable, aside from having standard furnitures for studio like chairs, tables for students, partition, drawing tables, lockers, in 2nd floor they provide about 10 macs, a plotter machine, microwave, fridge, sink,coffe machine (if i’m not mistaken)…downstair they have lecture rooms, discussion table, photocopy machine, reference room (like a little library), toilets, exhibiton hall……and i can see sofa bed, some students have their own desktops, skateboard, TV,  and it’s a very common thing seeing bread, wine bottle (i think it’s illegal in this area isn’t it?), coffee and other snacks or foods or drinks…

while back in indonesia, i always have my A3 up prints printed in printing centers, here i’ve gotta do it on my very own…facing with that huge (A1 up) printer for the first, i really had no idea what to do…first, i put my A1 paper into the upper place, but (lately i found out that it wasn’t placed properly)  when i put down the window, the running cartridge smashed it and torn it…next try, i put the paper into the roll, it ended up with the paper was cut by the machine for about 10cm then it was printed but suddnely stopped, of course because the paper size was reduced, then i had no idea how to eject the stuck paper (panic)…i asked for help then thankfully there were these i-think-they-are-chinesemalay-students kindly helped me, the paper was ejected successfully (and actually very easily!#@!), then they show me how to put the paper into the machine properly… but i had only one more paper, so i had to run to the Ushop at Hunter building to buy some more paper then ran back to ADS (Architecture Design Studio) building 2ndfloor,,,but before i left i thought of leaving one paper to be printed,but no job printing was done…fiuhh…okay then i had those papers, succeeded to put the A1 paper into the machine, but the problem was, the machine didnt want to start printing (already very tired)…i called joanna, but then she suggested i’d better ask someone who was there…then i saw jamima and asked for her help, but she couldn’t help me, so she cried for josh, there josh came as a savior!…i could finally print one sheet,, yeeay!…but it’s not yet finish,,,when i came to the scond printing, someone came, i think he was from the 4th of 5th year student, he was queuing for the printer,,then he asked me how many pages i’m printing, how long has it been, and how big is my files,,,when he check on my file’s size, 16M! for the current print, he said i’d better reduce the file size or else it’ll take ages to wait for the printing…but fortunately, i didn’t take ages, but only around 45 minutes

bale

bales are rectangular compressed blocks of straw, bound by string or wire…some people think bales are only bunches of dry grasses, straws…something for animal foods (??) or just bales, that’s it…but i think nothing just “that’s it” in this world, there must be something greater than the surface appearance

construction

did you know that bales can be used for construction material? it’s popular as straw bale construction and guess what? this type of construction is actually hundreds of years old…and surely in this “global-warming-alert-era”, this kind of material is natural friendly, though i’m not talking about sustainability…there’re two kinds of straw bale consstruction types: load-bearing or Nebraska Style (because “firstly” developed by some European settlers in Nebraska in the late 19th century) and post-and-beam which the straws are not structural, just filling the timber or steel frame….just go Googling if you wanna know more

dance

no, i dont dance…for some reasons…but i like watching dance performance and straightly fell in love with the movie STEP UP (oohh that Channing Tatum looks like Wentworth Miller doesnt he?? but he dances so damn well) and also the sequel STEP UP TO THE STREET….they’re good entertainments for my breaks

during my hectic days, my playlist is the very best friends,,,some songs have been my favourite ever, some others i just start to like them very much…in my play list, you’ll find songs from: goo goo dolls (irish…is always my very favorite), maroon 5 (their latest album is the best, i think), kelly clarckson (love her songs! breakaway is just like a national antheme for me), matchbox 20 (good to hear), john mayer (like “daughters” the best), backstreet boys (my very first love), daughtry (o yeah, quite good), padi (they’re back!), andra and the backbone (not “sempurna” but “lagi dan lagi”), bon jovi (new album is okay), gavin degraw ( “i dont wanna be”), coldpaly (“viva la vida” is good, thanks to calosa), linkin park (new songs are quite good and hearable), dawson’s creek’s -season 2- soundtrack (love almost all of the songs in the album), spice girls (soo nostalgia), boyzone (o dear i still love them), jewel (“foolish games” “hands” and “intuition”), the cranberries (“just my imagination”), david cook (newbie with good songs), colbie caillat (at first…who is she/he?? but that “the little things” and “bubly” were straightly get my attention),,,some others are mix from english-language-songs to chinese, korean, and japanese songs, and of course indonesian song…one religious song i like the most sung by Yusuf or Cat Steven: “God is the Light”

bar

uni of newcastle has this bar, the only area where alcohol is allowed: bar on the hill, the location is on hunter side…but today there something different with that bar…it’s the end of cultural awakening week, so there’re foods stalls from many nations…and the most interesting is during the begining of the evening, it’s crowded by arabs, malays, asians…moslems…because there was a ramadhan break-fast, but non moslems were also there, well it’s just eat and for free…so sure there’re many people coming,,,i went there with my housemate milena, she’s a very nice chinese girl…too bad i missed indonesian food, but i tried singaporean nasi kuning, cakes…malaysian kari, kue bakar (like talam in indonesia), cendol (a bit different from indonesian cendol), and some chicken/egg rolled in a yellow flour which reminded me of semar mendem…qatari food, i dont know what was it exactly, something like macaroni and a nice crispy cake…best food went to the roll and kue bakar……..while we were eating inside the bar, the arabian music acompany us, and a moment later some arabian boys climbed into the stage and just started to dance then some malay boys danced along,,,above all, i think the moment was beautiful, we were all there, different kind of people: moslem girls with veils and cadar, arab (saudi,yaman,qatar) boys wore their long white dress and the head cover (white and red checked plus the ring to hold it into the head), white people have very conversations with their moslem friends, chinese people from different nations (chinese, singaporean, malay), some african, bahama…at one area people ate, another area people served foos, another area people danced and attract others’ attention, another area people played bilyard, another area people drank alcohol…beautiful world isn’t it?

rain is always bad for mood, because it always makes a heart so mellow…it’s worsen by the fact that nobody’s at home but myself

miss

hhh, i’ve been missing so many things this year, but everything’s for my own greater good…and this ramadhan, i miss the sound of adzan from mosques, i miss the sound of the kids chattering on their way to the mosque, i miss doing the tarawih prayer with my mom or both mom and dad, i miss the smell of nice foods my mom cooks for the break-fast, i miss my mom’s or dad’s voices waking me up for sahur, i miss the sound of people reading Holy Koran, i miss having the break-fast with my old friends, i’m gonna miss the excitement of buying new clothes for ied day, i’m gonna miss the busyness in my home baking cake, cooking traditional food, i’m gonna miss ketupat, i’m gonna miss my family during the ied day…but above all, i know that someday, i’m gonna miss today…the moment, the place, and the situation i am currently at…

bakwan

to make bakwan, you need: garlic, black pepper, salt, corriander, carrot, cabbage, you can add corn, and plain flour, water………of course, to fry it you need oil and frying pan……….chop the garlic or you can use the garlic powder, then put it into the flour along with the salt and pepper, add some water…then put all the veggie into the flour, mix them and fry them…that’s it

i was thinking that PROBABLY i can sell this kind of snack for fund rising for Afghanistan which is our peace action here for this semester’s Peace Scholarship Program

there are lots of ways to make the world peace become reality……….through friendship is one of the ways…….like today, when playing freesbie (please tell me how to write it) with socheata, vincent, keith, and some new friends from malaysia, singapore, and australia,,,i thought how wonderful it was a bunch of people from different nationalities, speak different languages, hold different religion or even none, different appearance…to be together, play a sport (team work, laugh, spirit, support)………and that’s also what a general feeling i have here to be friends with many kind of people, without making religion or skin color or nationalities to be a very big issue,,just as long as that person is nice and kind, we can be friends,,,and when i say friends, we don’t only say “hi” to each other but we also hang out, eat together, share something, share laughs, help each other……isn’t it a wonderful world with wonderful people?……..however, yeah, teher’re still some nasty people are out there, they always are, but it’s their shame to be nasty, isn’t it? because life is always a choice and it’s too bad if someone choose to be a nasty people

and i have this movie to reccomend: “ARRANGED”

it’s about a friendship between two young women, one is a moslem, and another is a jew orthodox. i think this is a nice movie with good massages.

fry

oil is the must have ingredient and pan is the must have utensil if you want to fry something, that’re for sure…..for frying potato chips, you need quite lots of oil and a proper depth pan to make sure that all the chips are bathing in the boiling oil……………for frying vegetables, firstly fry onion, garlic, and chilli until their color change > add salt and a little sugar > then pour a little water > put the carrot andd wait until the carrot is no more hard > then the pak coy and cabbage >> don’t fry too long

kitchen

in architecture design, kitchen is one of the 3 most difficult things to design (the others are bathroom-toilet and stairs) because they deal with people activity very in detail and a slight mistake may bring a tremendous disaster for all the people occupy the building or the design of building itself…so, architect usually design a house from its kitchen and bathroom-toilet(wet cell) first

this kitchen is quite nice, it’s a big kitchen i can say…but the most important thing is the position of the fridge/food storage-sink-cooking table-the electric stove are in the proper sequence and distance, though because its wide space everything’s not really in reachable distance, so walking effort is almost always needed, especially to go to the fridge and the garbage bin and back to cooking area

tonight’s dinner menu: potato chips, frozen crumble fish (ready to fry), and vegetables…………..ohh, i miss my mom’s cooking

originally from hindu religion that describe a “super human” condition that is not only about physical, but the wisdom also because avatar is believed as an incranation of God who comes to the world and take disguise into some appearance in a purpose of saving the world…….that’s the original……………but today, when we’re talking about avatar, it usually means graphic icon that is a methapore of human in virtual world……….avatar is usually used in various kinds of game on line, and one of those is the most popular (i think): the SecondLife……………and one of my courses use secondlife as a place where we have to build a home in virtual environment…it’s pretty cool actually and i enjoy it so far,,though this assignment is a 5 weeks collaborative (with thailand student in rangsit university),but it’s quite fun!
